Before I installed the larger HDD in the Vista pc in November I did a Windows Update (WU) on it. Today I can't get WU to work, I click on "Check for updates on your computer" and a Error window opens saying "Windows Update cannon currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer.". This is the first time I've tried WU since the new HDD got put in. I've read some Help & Support articles on the Vista Home Basic pc but I don't know what I need to do to allow WU to work again. Woody Leonhard has given a limited go ahead to most of the updates and I started trying to update Vista after I got finished updating the XP computer. Another thing I notice on the Vista pc is I will see the Title Bar for a program say "Not Running" often, but this was going on before I put the new HDD in it. I got SP2 and 2 GB RAM on the Vista pc. Anyone have suggestions so I can get WU going on it again? Thanks! ...
