Take a look at Configure pull down menu then connect device. Highlight
Telnet an then click on config in the lower left corner. Then in the
middle right under "No Connect strings" Make all of them blank. I
think this will stop TFW from complaining about telnet not being
available.
Do you make all calls Telnet and dial up connections from the Phone
book? If you do and have the entry for each entry setup to the connect
device needed for that connection you could set the default connect
device to Telnet and when you called an entry that required a direct
modem call the phone book entry would use the modem connect device
listed in that phone book entry.
I have mine setup with Telnet as the default connect device. With this
setting TFW does not try to send an init string to the modem. This is
done when I use a phone book entry to call a direct modem call.
I hope I have made this clear
