subject: CLUB IDEAS

I am looking for some ideas for our club. I have been with the local
R/C club for about a year and they do not have very many activities.
They have an air show once a year and a fun fly but that is it. Does
anybody have any ideas on activities that everyone from the beginners
to the more advance can participate in?
We had Club 20 races once in Nov 94 and then the cages were damaged
and have never been repaired. Our club has about 40 active members
and that number is going down. There just are not enough "happenings"
going on to keep new members interested in the club. It seems like a
few of the older pilots just want to fly and that is it.
I volunteered to do the club newsletter and try to make it a little
more exciting. The monthly club meetings have a turn out of about 10
members. I cannot attend since I work second shift and we have the
meeting at 7:00 pm on the third Tuesday of each month. Are there any
clubs that have there meetings on Sat. or Sun.? How are the turn outs
  then?
Does anyone have examples/copies of there newsletters I could use to
get ideas for ours??? I have tried to make it a little funny, little
serious and informative all at the same time.
It seems like our biggest problem is that new members do not have one
or two experienced pilots that want to be instructors. The new member
will crash his plane and then say heck with this... I cannot afford
to crash my plane every time I try to fly. I have been lucky so far
and if there is not one or two pilots at the air field when I go out
there that will help me put my plane in the air I do not fly. I have
got frustrated a few times myself and wanted to quite.....
Any ideas, comments, suggestions will be greatly appreciated...
