QEdit really does have so many special commands that it does not
surprise me that you could get led astray.  I receintly received a
message that had a lot of "embedded " command characters  and was
looking for a way to exorcicize them when I came upon the character
table in QE. That made it rather easy to do just that and I thought that
I would pass it on.
