Ref: Building Panels and Soundproofing.
Hello Thom, The building panels I mentioned are extremely when sandwiched
with the two 3/4 inch sheets of weatherized chipboard and thick, high density
polyurethane foam. Here in Arizona there is only one manufacturer, who is
located in the Tucson area. There is only one experienced builder in the
entire Phoenix area, as this construction requires specialized expertise.
One good point about the panels is that you can plan ahead and have
"channels" for present and future wiring placed in the walls with plastic
caps or chipboard covering the channels until needed. For an audiophile or
recording hobbiest or pro, this would be ideal.
When you are ready to use or test materials for your project, I would
be happy to send the specs for the material, as there is no existing patent
or anything like that to worry about, and you can have someone there with
foam injection equipment make up a couple panels. I can also forward the
information you will require for wiring channels, etc.
Since seeing this myself, I have been spending a good amount of free
time thinking about how to use this technology for my listening area, etc. I
even dragged some home and have figured out costs for new construction versus
existing building material costs. As you can tell, I am sold on the idea.
Cheers, John
