From: Bob Stout Quoting Bruce Partridge : > I work on embedded systems. The chip I am programming now is brand new, and > my C gives me a 16 bit long. Embedded systems are a bit of a special case, > but C is very popular for embedded programmers. You're preaching to the choir here. I'm a dyed in the wool embedded systems guy, currently working with an old Motorola 68332 chip. Based on anecdotal evidence from search engine hits, it appears that embedded systems work and OS drivers & kernels are the last bastions of hard-core C programming (although it does appear that DSP chips have breathed a bit of new life into C). ------------------------------------------------------------- Consulting: http://www.MicroFirm.biz/ Web graphics development: http://Image-Magicians.com/ Software archives: http://snippets.snippets.org/ c.snippets.org/ cpp.snippets.org/ java.snippets.org/ d.snippets.org/ python.snippets.org/ perl.snippets.org/ dos.snippets.org/ embedded.snippets.org/ apps.snippets.org/ Audio and loudspeaker design: http://LDSG.snippets.org/ http://www.diyspeakers.net/ ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program. --- BBBS/LiI v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Prism bbs (1:261/38) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 261/38 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
