Merl:
I agree. However, some leaders seem to think that the B of R is a Pass/Fail
thing. There seems to be some controversy about the "Scout Spirit"
requirement. That should not have to be covered in th B of R. That should be
addressed many moons before the Scout reaches that point. We had a young man
to transfer into our troop last year, and he only needed one more merit badge
to finish up his 21. He was barely 13 years old, and initially was a real
trouble makes in the troop. However, our SM had a lengthy conference with him
and his parents about the "Scout Spirit" requirement, and that if he did not
clean his act up and get things together, he would never make Eagle in our
unit. That young man and changed tremendously over the past six months ! It
is amazing how when the Scout laws and oath and pointed out to these guys how
much they can change.
It's great to hear from you Merl. How's the weather in Tulsa, and are you
"Living on Tulsa Time" ? (Joke...you know....the song). t was a
beautiful bluebird day here in Alabama, with temps in the 60's.
Later....
