I know this is a little off topic but I'm hoping that
since I've been good for a while I can get by w/o
getting hurt .
I'm planning on buying a CB for my van in the near
future (I'm building "points" with fuel purchases and
plan on "buying" it with these.). I've read the posts
about Uniden scanners and it started me wondering about
some things. Is it ALL Uniden products that are "all
sizzle and no steak" or is it just the scanners?
Now that I worked the msg on topic I'll digress .
How about a little (<-- key word LITTLE, I don't want
to get too much off topic) input and/or recommendations
on a good CB? Either brand or one model in particular.
I'm probably looking for a fantasy one but I would like
one that is small, light weight, has good TX sound (or
what ever you call it), good range and any extras that
you feel are worth while.
But before you get started let me tell you a couple of
other things. One, I don't really plan on using it
much. Two, as you can tell I'm not a radio wizard so
any extras should be something I can understand. I've
seen them with enough buttons, levers and knobs to make
the space shuttle controls look like a TV remote.
And to go with a CB I'll need an antenna. What you
recommend? I'd like a mag mount so... Also would I
need to place it on one end of the van and my SCANNER
antenna (trying for topic again, Bill ) on the
other? IOW, would TX'ing with the CB antenna to close
to the scanner antenna damage the scanner? I figure
I'll get some bled over if I'm scanning any of the AM
freqs but I don't know.
Remember we're pushing the envelope on this but if we
are careful I think the info given might keep us out of
trouble. If not I guess I'll be getting a NetMail note
from Bill.
