Hi Bob,
Thanks for answering my question. That's actually the way I leaned
towards, for 1)I don't know if there are alot of positions for Marine
Biologists, #2) Coming from Emergency Medical field, I got to a point
in my continuing education that I thought what do I want to do after
taking my E.M.T.-most people were going on to Paramedic school, or
Paramedic Firefighter, or Nursing, or Pre-Med, But when I spoke to the
Veterinarian for the Marine Mammal Center(in Sausalito, CA) and Marine
World Africa U.S.A.(in Vallejo, CA) she tried to discourage me because
she said that the animals end up hating you for always coming at them
with needles and such-Because most of the animals for the Marine Mammal
Center come in sick or injured and they are wild animals. But I really
love animals alot, and scuba diving, so I thought that It would be the
best way to combine my 2 favorite things in life. Is there any way to
be a multi-specialty Veterinarian or is that just not done. What do you
think?
BK> Veterinary medicine is exceptionally fufilling.. but it's also excep
BK> hard work.. and long hours. IMNSHO.. I'd go Vet med.
Where do you start then? Would you start out with Veterinary Technician
and then work on the additional science for getting into a University?
Because I am basically starting over at age 33.
BK> This is very typical, Many horses can tell you more about you and yo

BK> and horses.
You know it is really funny because I once started working for an
Equestrian Center as a groom(being trained by people who only spoke
spanish or very little english)and I noticed that the horses were kind
of spooky? Not too sure if they really trusted you. But with my
boyfriends mothers horses they are so friendly(and they are the same
breeds) I trust them so much that I will let them get up close to me,
like face to face, I could not do that with the Equestrian Center's
horses, I was told to always be careful with them. Is that a handling
issue? I really love all animals, and I have been told many a time
that they must sense that from me, not just in horses, or cats or dogs,
even in reptiles, My ex-husband who was abusive to me had two reptiles
a chineese water dragon, and a boa-both bit him, neither one even bit
me, as a matter of fact before my Ex sold the animals he called me one
day and said,"Marianne, you've got to come take a look at "Pugsley"(the
water dragon) he is all brown and won't eat?" I went over there and
picked up the water dragon and started petting him(he was dead leaf
brown looking) all of the sudden he turned a brilliant emerald green.
I told my Ex that all he needed was a little attention. But all of my
life I have had instances like that-Not to say I've never been bitten,
I was bitten by a Harbor seal that was dying(found out it was
neurological problems) But I am told that alot of them will especially
when they are dying. Well, I'm turning this into a book so I will go
for now, But I appreciate your help.
Thanks, Marianne
