Everyone knew Chr‚tien's government was corrupt. It's why all the rats
jumped ship when Martin took over, and it's the whole reason why Martin
resigned from cabinet. That fact is the only thing that even gives him the
slimmest hope of carrying on.

It's my opinion that the Mulroney government was just as corrupt as
Chr‚tien's government was; the only difference is that they just did a
better job of covering their tracks. The Chr‚tien gang is a victim of their
own arrogance; they thought they'd never be held accountable for their
actions.

Although he's not saying anything right now, I'm pretty sure that we will
not have a spring election now. Martin will wait until the inquiry has run
it's course; he will want to be exonerated by it before he goes to the
polls. His own exoneration may not be enough if some of his choices for
cabinet ministers have dirt on their hands, though. That's probably the
reason for all the strict backgrounmd checks that Martin had done on his
choices for cabinet ministers. He knew the shit was gonna hit the fan, and
he wanted his cabinet to be as squeaky-clean as possible.

It looks bad for the Liberals, but personally, I have absolutely no
confidence that the Tories will be any better. They're all fat
"cats", after all. Only the stripes are different.
