I haven't followed this story (apart from the occasional laugh at the whole
fiasco - that quote from Phil's URL about the CEO being partisan is just
amazing).

However, I imagine you would get the machine to print a slip with the vote
on it, and the person would then put it in a ballot box. A random survey of
ballot boxes would then confirm whether there was a good agreement between
the electronic tally and the paper in the boxes.
