Hello sailors.
I like my Siren. It's a nice, foregiving boat, easy to sail and kinda
fun too - though I think hiking straps would make it even more fun.
Problem is, it doesn't seem to go very fast.... This could be due to my
sailing abilities, but I like to think that there's more to it.
I think I would like my Siren more, if I could just "soup it up" a
little. Here are some things that I've thought about - I'd welcome
your views on these.
1. move the forestay higher on the mast - thereby allowing for a larger
jib to provide more power. Also extending the length of the 110%
Genoa a little farther back.
2. Replacing the boom with a longer one - to allow a larger main sail.
Also increasing the height of the main be lowering the bottom track
a few inches.
3. Sell the Siren and buy a Hobbie Cat.
I don't take part in club races or things like that so don't feel
restricted to "standardized" dimensions. Just want to go a little
faster and have a little more excitement.
