As Thom suggested in his reply to Kevin, this may need adjustment to
match your preferred tape formulation's sensitivity for best results.
Metal tape has about ten decibels more headroom than type II tape at
high frequencies, I once read in Stereo Review. I think some older
tape decks can record it satisfactorily since bias and eq are Type
II, but can't erase it completely.
