Oh indeed & that's not just about cameras, it's about you the single
individual & a government. You can link up all sorts of data sources
which are government property (e.g. tax, medical,criminal & financial
information).

They then have the power to demand records from private institutions (e.g.
cctv from shopping centers or bank records or phone information).

The phone service has always been capable of listening into fixed line
phones even where the phone is on the hook.

It would not surprise me to find a similar capability wrt mobile phones.

So they can listen in if required.
