LK> If ANYONE has any information on this bottle from Alaska ..please
LK> let me know what you know ..Thanks!
My grandmother had one like that my uncle sent back to her when he
was stationed in Alaska in the late 60's-early 70's. I was told that it was
thicker due to the extreme cold the soldiers would sometimes have to face and
bottled products that were sent (if there were bottled, usually they were
tinned) had to have thick glass to prevent cracking under the cold. Anyone
who has kept a bottle or can of cola in a freezer would agree they explode
rather violently.
Unfortunately my uncle has been passed on for many years now and I
haven't seen the bottle in the longest. Coca-Cola does maintain a museum
somehwere here in the states and with a little luck you might find them and
they can help you out. They also have a website if you have the access.
