Hi Rob,
RJ> Ah, I follow you now. You were talking about an echo called OS2HW,
RJ> which I've never heard of and which doesn't appear in my (admittedly
RJ> old - June '94) areas list. I thought you were trying to imply that
RJ> there was such a thing as hardware specifically for OS/2, which I
RJ> conceive to be so unlikely as to be impossible (although there has
RJ> been some hardware which only works with Windoze for some stupid
RJ> reason, notably printers and video cards).
Gee June 94 is a bit old :)
RJ> I doubt that such an area as OS2HW would interest me enough to request
RJ> it, as there is very little that's hardware-specific enough about OS/2
RJ> to warrant such an echo. The only things that come to mind are faults
RJ> in Warp's handling of some network cards on install and the
RJ> virtualisation of IRQs when sharing is on, but these are still
RJ> software issues.
Actually is is a good source of information, not just hardware issues but
also software related issues. This was the area that got me fixed up, just
before i posted my message here in the zone 3 echo. Maybe you should
request the area, and see if you like it?
RJ> I'm not a bit surprised that it once caused you problems, and predict
RJ> that it will again. IRQ2 is reserved for the use of the second 8259A,
RJ> and also daisy-chains to IRQ9 on anything but a PC or XT. The solution
RJ> is worse than your original problem!
Well i do not have any slots left except 3 pci slots, so i cannot put
anything else in to conflict :) I would have liked my network card in, but
alas it is a 16 bit one, and have no more room. IRQ2 IRQ12 and IRQ4 share
on this Triton mother board, only by disabling the IRQ12 could i get my
mouse to work, go figure that one out, has me stumped as to why?
RJ> And use standard assignments wherever possible, unless you enjoy
RJ> constantly hunting down and patching out obscure problems in your
RJ> software. That's why I went to the trouble of writing the serial IRQs
RJ> in the last message.
I cannot use 2e8 as com3, it gets grabbed by the video card, i had to
assign it to 2b8!

RJ> The P100 doesn't do the graphics but yes, the average PCI video card
RJ> is faster than the average VLB or ISA one.
Much better in graphical drawing on the desktop to my old OPTI! I can have
a 14x8 window on all my 3 lines, and see what the board is doing, and it
doesn't slow the system down, and draws as good as it would in full screen,
which is great, as i can keep an eye on all 3 lines, and not slow my users
down in the process.
