Old tech was before "planned obsellessance" became widespread and
manufacturing started building in the "wear-out factor" by using sub-standard
parts.
A 1955 car was expected to last at LEAST 10 years. A 1995 car is expected to
start falling apart in just over five. Some progress, eh?
