When in Seattle U's program for counselors, I took a Ph.D. friend to his 
first A.A. meeting.  We took a group conscience, and he was permitted to stay 
in one of the oldest groups in Seattle.
He stated afterwards that the feeling of overwhelming love and acceptance in 
A.A. to a newcomer is some of the best therapy he has ever witnessed.
