From: "Dave Ings"

I'm not living in Canada these days, so I can't speak first hand about
this. However I very much doubt that any of my 40-something friends gives
two hoots about this decision, the reported "outrage" of
editorialists notwithstanding.

In Canada there was a famous quote due to a former Prime Minister that
"the state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation". (The
quote was made in the late 60s in a debate about the decriminalization of
homosexuality.) I suspect most Canadians will view this decision as an
extension of that sentiment.

Each country has pros and cons of course, but IMHO one of the cons of
English Canada is a rather stifling political correctness which informs
public discourse. As a result what people say in private is often quite
different from what you read on the editorial pages.
