I don't know - did they attack and kill civilians without warning?

They did some bad things (rubber necklace, anyone?) even if they were in
the name of a good cause, so yes. I had friends in SA at the time and the
ANC were by no means saints.

In my mind it comes down to attacking civilians, with or without warning.
That's wrong, no matter the cause.
