Sorry about this off-topic, but the echo is pretty quiet, anyway.

BC> I to am one that gleaned a lot of useful info from Don's post in this
BC> echo and a couple other and have not seen his name in a long time.

He left Fido in the September of 2000.

BC> Him and I had a couple heated discussions

Yeah. It was nice to argue with him.

BC> Was his death recent or has it been some time? Do
BC> you have any idea how old a man he was?

My idea is about 47 y.o., but I'm not even sure he's ever existed. :) He
called himself a Vietnam vet, anyway.
The below is the last I've read about him.

Hi, Tulipant.

Or should I say, "Hi, Gergely?" :-)

This message is to share a bit of sad news with you and with anyone else
who might still be lurking from the Old Days.

On 19 December 2000, Don Alt passed away.

Don had been feeling the affects of the HIV for several years, but in
the last year or two this infection caused his health to deteroriate at
an increasingly rapid rate. Don died at his home with a few loved ones
to care for him and help ease his passing.

You don't have an internet e-mail address, do you Tulipant? I'm working
on something in memoriam. I can include your name on it if you did a
fair bit of corresponding with Don, which I think you did if memory
serves. It's in electronic format at the moment but you can get a hard
copy of it made at a printer if you're of a mind to.

Y'all could expect this, since he left some clue in this echo:

Anyway, I'm going through a battery of various tests. I've already
seen about 4 physicians for several things, and yesterday I stumped 5
dermatologists. I've got a red/pink rash or "something" all over my
body, including my face, that makes me look like I've been badly
sunburned, and that itches like crazy. I've only got a few "islands of
white skin" left as the one dermatologist said. They they can't
identify it so they did two biopsies yesterday. I find out the results
this coming Friday. In the meantime I've got more body lotions to apply
all over than Max Factor makes! :-) At least they finally gave me
something to stop or control that terrible itching.

Yesterday, in addition to seeing the dermatologists I also had an
ultrasound done on the large lump on my right testicle and I'll find
out the results of that next week, too. But it's not testis. cancer.

Next week I have 3 more appointments with other doctors, and I'm
scheduled to see both a physiologist and a psychiatrist in the future.
My various appointments stretch into July.

As far as the you-know-what is concerned, I'm not in too bad shape
for not having any medication whatsoever the past nine years. They
haven't started me on any meds, yet, but I've just started seeing those
doctors, who are specialists, last week. I'm really not in bad shape...
could always be better, but I'm not too bad. As of the last blood test
two weeks ago my viral load is 425,000 and my T-cells are 236, which,
for no medication isn't all that bad, even if it's not great. I'm sorta
"middle of the road" as the one doctor said. I guess I'll be living
longer than what I thought when I had that urinary infection and
couldn't pee. How I got that infection is a mystery to me. I never
leave the house and go anywhere where I'd get one.
