There are 2 reasons why I stick with SM-58's for vocals...first, I'm used to
its sound and I never fail to get a good sound with it, that 3k peak not-
withstanding (frankly, I've never noticed it but I do notice that when I use
other mics they're TOO responsive...maybe that's what you're talking about).
And B, it's the only mic that I've ever seen get slammed down onto a hard
concrete floor and the worst that happens to it is it gets a dent in the
windscreen. Other mics will surely crumble and fail when that happens, but
not a Shure. I do a lot of gigs at a lot of different places and I need a
mic that isn't a wussy. All other mics are wussies.
