The intention is to remove it from both parks. Disneyland is doing the
"Tommorowland Renovation Project" currently... and if the "super speed
ycles"
are popular at DL, it will be at MK very shortly.
My question as a consultant that works on safety issues... is how they are
going to deal with safety problems with the new ride. With the severe
amputations and deaths from the people mover (especially at DL)... I think
he
cycles will be more apt to be problematic.
Since the peoplemover runs so slow, people would jump out of the ride
usually
near the tunnels) and would either get their foot or pant leg caught on the
drive wheel in the track... or they would get crushed by the car running over
them. It did not happen often... only once every couple of years on
average... but often enough that it became a safety issue. So just in case
you did not know about the "safety problems" with the people mover you now
know :)
As Walt said, Disneyland (at the time the only park) is not a stagnant
development... it is constantly evolving... so any attraction that has low
"riders per hour" will eventually close.
