We offer subscriptions to the BBS here... pretty modest really... $5/month 
for the full BBS (and less for 3 and 6 month subscriptions), access to 
numerous CD Roms for downloading, lots of echoes, free routed EMAIL, not to 
mention sysops who will hold hands and answer questions for new folks.
Invariably it's the non-subscribers who make unreasonable demands, and 
generally right after they complain about how lame the BBS is, or how we 
don't run their favorite game (although there are over 80 registered doors 
running). Somehow I don't feel obligated to take them very seriously. ;D
