Lemme tell ya, my arms hurt all day after the SVT bit me.  I was half asleep
(it was a rush job, so I was getting an early start) and not doing my usual
cautions, and I paid for it.  I still have my "BFScrewdriver" that I use for
discharging caps to the chassis of amps, and that's what I -forgot- to do
first that morning.  Ouch.

And it's a small mortgage to retube an entire SVT.  Ampeg -used- to offer
(free) the schematics to convert the preamp section to all 12AX7A's, along
with tech/test notes.   12AX7A's are a lot easier to get than the 12DW7's
that they usually use.  (In the older SVTs, that is.)
