That may not be correct, there is a little thing called Officer Safety.
Bear in mind, especially out of state that the officer doesn't know you from
John Q. Turd and doesn't know how you'll react to things. For that matter,
he doesn't know if it is your car and your scanner, a local thug could've
car-jacked you and is now driving around with your car and scanner...
I said all that to say this :)
If he runs the car for stolen, he doesn't want you to be sitting behind
the wheel and here "Vehicle was taken in an armed robbery about 2 hours ago
100 miles down the road..."
See what I'm saying? Fortunately you were nice to him, and from what
you've said, he had a good attitude with you...everybody drove away and
nobody rode away in a backseat.... :)
