From: "John Beamish" I sometimes think that NPR should refer to themselves as Nation's Precious Resource. Here's a "fer instance". On WBFO there's a "Meet the Author" program which I occasionally catch in the car and now will not miss since it's on podcast. The most recent episode is an interview with Michael Wallis, author of "Billy the Kid: The Endless Ride." If you do nothing else today, grab this podcast and listen to the first 10-12 minutes as Michael Wallis reads some of the book he wrote. His writing is good, very good. But the author's voice -- a garrulous, seemingly whiskey-soaked-cigarette-ravaged sound that percolates and bubbles up from deep within -- brings a tone to the story that your own inner voice, as you simply read the words on the printed page, could never conjure up. The podcast url is http://publicbroadcasting.net/wbfo/podcasts/275.xml and I use iTunes to download and listen. --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 5030/786 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
