It's constant on a global scale but not constant on a local scale where oh
say a rain forest turns into a desert with a lot of oil underneath it..
If I homoginize the temperature of the planet, the equator cools and the
poles warm yet the average temperature stays the same.

Most proponents are simple lemmings, it's the leaders, the motivated ones
you have to explain. What is Al Gore's goal? Oh that's right, he gets paid
to talk.. And the "down with SUV's" crowd gets to well.. bitch
about SUV's carbon footprint, and ADM gets to promote ethanol, and ... Oh
yeah, the UN is a bunch of governments who of course get what all
governments want, more control.

I don't agree, I think it's a silly idea not unlike worrying that
population density in cities is going to make the earth wobble on it's
axis. You are talking total concentration of about .0003 molecules, that's
less than 1 molecule in the room you are in right now. It's simply not
enough to make squat difference to anything.
