Corn is not like dandylions, you have to plant seeds to get corn to grow so
it's completely possible to change the genetic makeup of large areas of
corn in a single season. All you need to be able to do is get a supply of
good seed.
As an example there are two major types of corn grown now, one is feed corn
also called field corn, it's really yellow and tastes horrible. It's used
for livestock feed because the seed is very cheap and you just save some of
last years to grow next years crop.
The second king is called silver queen corn, it's also known as sweet corn
and is very good eating. They grow both out here and it's not been a
problem keeping them separate.
The whole fear about genetically modified plants is about things that grow
like dandylions not corn.
