From: "Mark" John, even though I doubt very strongly (in fact I'm sure there isn't) there is any benefit to implementing the limits dictated by the current hysteria about CO2; I'd still not have any real problem with the meddling if it were to be equal on a world-wide basis. Anything other than cooperation among all countries is a plan that will be rife with unintended consequences. So far, and I'm sure there are plenty more: -- We have Mexicans protesting the high cost of tortillas because the traders have driven up the price of corn in anticipation of burning it in Hummers -- We have Germans complaining that their beer is going up in price because Barley isn't profitable enough to grow in the face of more lucrative bio-fuel crops -- We have millions upon millions of Westerners patting themselves on the back for buying curly-cue CFL bulbs in exponentially increasing numbers, which is causing the manufacturer that has no limits on anything at all (no minimum wage, no pollution, no nothing) ramping up coal plants as fast as you can compare the electricity use of Edison vs. Mao to meet the new "responsible" demand for "energy efficiency" and "destroying" the planet even as we pretend to save it 23w vs. 60w at a time (or one Cheryl square a day _ Until this hysteria generates a comprehensive worldwide initiative that makes sense (even if it makes no sense to do it at all), it's potentially --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 5030/786 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
