The USR's dialling is automatic, and will revert to pulse if it can't use
tone dialling, even if ATDT is used.

Yeah, I run the 04/29 SDL, and it has several features which weren't
supported with earlier code, such as CID, Distinctive Ring, Plug and Play,
Carrier Loss Redial, and an X-modem loader so that flashing the ROM is no
longer platform dependant.  What I'd really like though, is Class 2 fax as
an option, so I no longer have to use Class 1 with my Windows and OS/2 fax
apps.
