Tom,
TJ>I agree .. being a Scoutmaster is the most important psoition in
TJ>Scouting.. Some may say, well what about commissioners.. Let me tell
I bet you'd get an argument from the Cubs on that :-)
TJ>you.. I haven't seen a commissioner ( or had a call from ) one in over
TJ>10 years .. They exist I beleive on paper.. and take thetitle to earn
TJ>( get ) another square knot for the Christmas Tree they call a uniform.
I'm sorry you feel that way Tom. In my experience there are probably as high
a percentage of good Commissioners as there are good Cub or Scout leaders.
I'm unfamilliar with the BSA job description for Commissioners but here in
Canada it can be a rewarding as well as a demanding and time consuming job.
It has been my experience that when all the positions are filled and working
co-operatively the program delivered is top quality. Leaders don't, shouldn't
and can't do it all (G).
In our training we invert the piramid and put the youth as the most important
followed by the leaders and all that supports the youth. Whithout that
support you have a large club but no "movement".
Tom, I'm not meaning to rag on you but as an ADC Cubs for our District I have
noticed a lot of "Christmas Tree" bashing lately and just wanted to point out
the value of trees:-)
By the way I am also an active Leader in a Cub Pack but with only 10% of your
experience(G)
LARRY
