-=>While in the White Hart, Helen Fleischer explained to Fred Runk that<=-
FR> I think I remember the Norths from a radio program--never did read
FR> any of the novels--don't think I even knew there were novels
FR> featuring them at the time. Must be back in the late 40s or early
FR> 50s. The Norths were middleclass types in comparison to the high
FR> society Charles. Think they had a dog too--a mutt if I'm not
FR> mistaken.
HF> In the books they have a cat. Well, more than one, as the stories
HF> span quite a time frame. No more than one at a time in any I've read
HF> so far, but I'm only a little way into them. I just got hooked on them
HF> this year. Wanted to read them in order, but couldn't find the second
HF> one so I've skipped a bit.
A cat? Wonder if the director decided a dog would be better. I just might
look around for them. It's been a long time since I saw them. I suppose,
though, one might find them occasionally on a cable channel that specialized
in older movies.
HF> I loved the scene where she was trying to make butter from table
HF> cream, because they'd run out of butter coupons during rationing.
HF> Reminded me of the time my sister and I tried to make butter. ;)
Also sounds something that Lucy might try.
HF> ... If you can't see the bright side, polish the dull side.
Works for me.
... Love is chemistry; sex is mechanical engineering.
