JA> My listening area seems just a reverse of yours. I
JA> have been in quieter
JA> and cozzier artillery attacks! The room has a cathedral
JA> ceiling, which is the only thing good about the room.
The way I have put together my listening room, it does have
a cathedral style roof. With the whole room made out of fibrous
material, it is almost sound dead. And with it being small, it needs
little volume. I have yet to get the speakers placed right. My front
right speaker, an old Goodmans is lower than my front left but it
doesn't seem to matter much.
JA> It is about 16 wide by 24 long. Ceramic tiles floors.
JA> One full length
JA> side wall on the left side. No wall on the right side. Two
JA> huge sliding glass doors on the side wall and a large window
Does glass alter the sound of the room, do you think?
JA> further down the wall. The speaker on the side with the wall
JA> can sit no more than 18 inches from the wall. Talk about a
JA> lively room!
I find that, although I have old Hi-Fi equipment and speakers.
The layout of the room and the speakers is alot better than a
friend of mines who has over 600 quid worth of kit. I suppose
it is all down to what you like, and can live with.
JA> We are currently planning to move in the fall and
JA> find a home with a
JA> more ideal listening area. Thankfully, my wife has gotten
JA> into the Home Theater end of all this, so it didn't take as
JA> much of a pitch. Actually, it was her idea.....but for
JA> different reasons.
I like it! By a new home to fit your Hi-Fi gear, not Hi-Fi for
the home.
