Replace communism with capitalism in the above and the same holds.
Especially the last sentence, only capitalism comes with a ready-made
ruling class to do the enslaving.

In the sense you mean, yes - they don't seem to scale well, which is my
main beef with communism and why I think communist superpowers are destined
to fail. I mentioned before that I don't believe there's any perfect
one-size-fits-all political system.
I've lived in both Europe and the US, and have seen the good and bad of
each system. The US is great if you're lucky enough to have the right
skills, but I've never seen anywhere with more beggars on the streets and
sick people who can't afford medical treatment. I like the place and have
made it my home so please don't think I hate the US - I just recognise that
its political system is not perfect. Specifically, more welfare spending is
needed and if that means higher taxes then fine, I'll be happy to pay.
