Because in the 1950s and earlier religionists weren't pushing prayer INTO the public schools. Note that I was a student IN the public schools during that period, and there was no organized prayer in them and nobody was trying to GET organized prayer into them. School was for learning and religion was for church in those days. It only became *necessary* to declare organized prayer in the public schools unConstitutional after the religionists started trying to push prayer and (Christian only) religion into the public schools; fifty years later they're still trying, and they're still wrong. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 11/331 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 187 140/1 226/0 249/303 SEEN-BY: 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 SEEN-BY: 396/45 633/260 267 285 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 SEEN-BY: 2320/105 5030/1256 @PATH: 300/3 14/5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
