That's odd, I've ridden in an ambulance, my son has ridden in ambulance,
indeed my ex-wife has too (on three separate occasions occurring over a
span of 5 decades) and none of us paid a dime. We have, in NJ, what is
called a "Volunteer Rescue Squad" most everywhere. I'm not sure
how the big cities may work it, but I doubt your "pulled out of thin
air" $1,000 figure is reflective of any actual reality.

Perhaps under Communism it is (which is exactly where you want the world to
go given your positions), OTOH, quite a few million people under the
benevolent thumb of communism died in Russia -- in fact some reporter for
some paper here in the US won a Nobel prize for his reporting that somehow
missed/buried that fact. His brethren are still reporting what they want to
rather than the facts.
