It's got the pluses but it's not an easy way to go.  My husband retired
over 10 ¨years ago and finally in the past year is working part time.  A
good bit of ¨this was our choice.  One parent home seemed like a good idea
and it's proven ¨out as a good one til Charlotte hit 10.

The hard side is it's accepted for a woman to do this, but a man gets
looked at ¨odd and has to deal with that.  Even simple things like the
Laundrymat washing ¨my bras and such makes folks look at him odd.  His
answer was a shrug and a ¨joke about them being jelous that they either
didnt have a woman, or if they ¨did, didnt have a man willing to wash their
clothes.  While a small number got ¨offended, most got a big grin and
started chatting with him.  He's got more ¨girlfriends than I do .
 They trade recipes and chat about sports.  Don ¨helps them pick out
fishing lures for gifts to the hubbies.

Don works now at the local auto-hobby shop, changing oil and putting cars
on ¨the lift.  This is a bit amusing to us both as he doenst drive but he
is a bit ¨handy as a car mechanic in small ways.  He couldnt replace your
break pads but ¨he can manage sparks and tuning etc.

He'd be a dab hand at any generic handyman store job.  It may not be a big
aim ¨for most, but suits him well and would make him happy.

Look if you do end up 'househusband' for a bit and feel lost?  Talk to me
and ¨Don.  It's wierd but workable.
