Hi Vicki,
RH> Are you on the mailing list for the store flyers?
VO> Yep. And I just saw an ad for the Sure-Lock cones 3/$5. I don't
VO> even know if that's a good price.
Yes, it is a good price. Most of the time the cones go for about $2.99
each. It's an average thread, a god one to play around with.
VO> Well, I checked at Joann's here in town and they don't have the
VO> adapter, and only have the Priced Right thread.
Never heard of Priced Right. It's probably about like the others. Do
you have a Wal-Mart or other big store that has a fabric department?
W-M seems to have a good supply of sewing gadgets, at least the one here
does.
VO> I think the adapter is the way for me to go. I have two different
VO> sewing machines depending on what I'm using them for.
Sounds like a sure thing. I've also seen, in cataloges, an adapter
thing you just hook onto the spool holder of your machine & the cone
sits on the table. I'm not sure how well something like that would
work; I suppose it's worth a try. I like having the cone sit on
something that can hold it down a bit better.
What kind of machines do you have? I only have one sewing machine; at
times, I wish I'd gotten a treadle in Germany but we have the weight &
space constraints to deal with. I know my old Singer Futura 2 made
better buttonholes (didn't have to fuss as much) than the Pfaff. Well,
now that I know how to outsmart the Pfaff, it does a pretty good job.
RH> It comes from being a sewer also. If you have a bobbin of a color
RH> that is close, you can go ahead and use that. I also keep a bobbin of
RH> the invisible nylon thread on hand for projects when I don't want to
RH> wind a bobbin of the color I'm using--if it's an odd color and I'm not
RH> using too much of it, that's a very handy thing to keep in mind.
VO> Not a bad thought. Something I'll probably invest in.
Have you worked with the nylon thread before? Sometimes it can be a bit
of a problem. I have used it for both the top and bottom but prefer to
use it only in one or the other.
Catch you later,
Ruth
