Tres Coker to ALL:
TC> Does anyone have a clue where you put the 50 Miller Patch.
F Welch to Tres Coker:
FW> On the uniform shirt, on the R pocket, in the space reserved for
FW> badges on temporary display.
Paul Yelk to F Welch:
PY> Sorry, that's not correct.
Errr...yeah, I...ah... was so *sure* that it *could*
go there, that the day after I posted to Tres, I dashed to the
Scout Shop & picked up a new copy of the Insignia Standards, so I
could cite chapter & verse. Sure enough!, it's for "equipment
decoration" only! Open mouth, insert foot, echo globally!
Tres Coker to F Welch:
TC> ... there are TOO many patches to all be placed on the uniform.
Paul Yelk to Tres Coker:
PY> Not really. If you check the Insignia Guide, it limits the
PY> kinds (and in some cases, the number) of patches/emblems that
PY> go on the uniform.
True, but the number of patches available is simply staggering!
When the 5th Highcliffe (Dorset, UK) contingent of Scouts & adults
came to visit us in Denver last summer, it was quickly apparent
that BSA uniforms are relatively heavily decorated. The Brits
thought our unis rather over-embroidered, and remarked on how BSA
awards a patch for every conceivable thing, while our Scouts
thought the Brits' unis looked pretty sharp 'cause every one of the
few patches they wore signified something pretty substantial.
