Actually, I'd never heard of FrontDoor at all until about three years into running my BBS. The sysop who got me started running my own BBS, Scott McNay, ran BinkleyTerm with RBBS. He used a Squish message base and a door called "The Reader" to handle mail. That's how I got started using BT and Squish. I've pretty much stuck to that combo ever since but I have used SGMail before as a front-end mailer. If I was ever going to switch over to ARCmail-style, I'd use SGMail in a heartbeat.
