I would guess this is most likely because you don't have a high speed
serial port (with a 16550 UART).  Assuming you're running DOS (not Win 95
or OS/2) and have Windows 3.x installed, exit to dos and type 'MSD' which
will load the Microsoft Diagnostics program and press 'c' for com ports.

You should find that the screen displays something like this:

³                            COM1:      COM2:      COM3:
³                            -----      -----      -----
³ Port Address               03F8H      02F8H      03E8H
³ Baud Rate                   2400      38400       2400
~
³ UART Chip Used           16550AF    16550AF    16550AF

If you have anything less than a 16550 UART, this is most likely the cause
of your CRC download errors.  You can pick up a serial card at most
computer stores for around $30 - $40.
