The creation of light was the first day.

And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters,
and let it divide the waters from the waters.   And God made the
firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament
from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning
were the second day.

(Genesis 1:6-8 [KJV])

Now we see why there is water on Earth and water above us, because He
had split it which is called the firmament.  Above us is Heaven,
though we cannot always see it.  Heaven is real, just as the Earth is
real.  We live in a physical body and live in a spiritual realm.
