And so it came to pass, on 08-16-96 16:39,
that Bonnie Goodwin spake unto Matt Ion:
BG> Hi Matt!
Heya Bonnie the net.babe!
BG> When does bass become nondirectional? I've seen figures as high as
BG> 250Hz and now as low as 80Hz, I tend to think that is more like
BG> 125-175 range from what my ears tell me. In my system which
BG> currently is using about 100Hz crossover on stereo subs seems to
BG> work fine (so high to be seamless into the "tops").
It depends largely on the room as well (and of course, your own ears and your
ability to discern direction of sound -- some people probably couldn't
locationalize 8kHz if they tried!). In a very square, resonant room, good
luck with any kind of directionality at any bass frequencies. Outdoors, with
sub cabinets placed a few hundred feet apart, it would probably become a bit
easier to pick out directionality of an 80Hz signal :)

Q: Why don't blind people skydive?
A: It scares the heck outta their dogs!
