Now I'm starting to learn about > hamming, and packet radio BBSes...and I get that fluttery feeling again. =) I played with packet briefly a few years back. I had wired up a sound card interface to my 5W HT and had some limited success with it. I even managed to access a packet station about 30 miles away at 9600. Maybe one day I'll get back into it, but I found that doing it properly (with TNC, more powerful transceiver, and a better-positioned antenna) takes money. That, and going to school and getting ready for my son (who will be here within a few weeks), I haven't had much time. But I know what you mean, though. When I got packet working it really felt like the first time I managed to get through on a BBS with a modem.
