Humm.....The taliban was created out of a sudden & complete lack of
interest post-soviet withdrawal leaving heaps of munitions & people
with no obvious skills except those gained resisting the red army.

At the time I know of many who warned that the place needed to be helped to
rebuild/disarm etc but.....it was a remote place a long way away esp from
say NYC...

"We've won!! Hurrah time to pack up & go home" "But this
is our home...what about us?" "Sorry...who are you
again...?"
