Do you happen to have a linux installable TAR?

I'm having problems making the excutables execute. As it is, I'm fairly
new to Ubuntu/linux. I think I have to do something as ROOT, but I'm
lost.

I know there used to be installable zips out there, but I can't locate
one.

Thanks for any help you may have!

... Rats! Missed another Kodak moment....
