    I have two friends who run two Fidonet BBSs, that is WAKE UP! BBS 
(2:334/204, telnet or ftp bbs.gvo.it) run by Guido and DELENDA CARTHAGO BBS 
(2:334/201, delenda.gvo.it) run by Sandro.
    Guido is an Internet Service Provider too, and Sandro has a 19.2kb direct 
connection (leased line) with him for Internet.
    Sandro has always been using USR Couriers, and was quite pleased to see 
me having a 33.600 connection to his BBS with my SupraFAXModem 288, beta 
1.440-18.
    Now he would like to get two Supra V34 modems, so that he can put them on 
the leased line between his BBS and Guido's Internet connection.
    But before ordering the modems, he's got some doubts:
1) Is it possible to use one of your modems over a leased line (my modem's 
manual reads: &Ln     Line Type Selection --- &L0    Dial-up line Default --- 
&L1    Leased Line  /(not supported)/)??
2) Is it possible to disable every protocol but V34 (I do not know why he 
asks this)?
3) What is the sysop deal here in EUROPE (Italy)? If you do not know, who 
should I contact in Europe?
    right now they are using DIGICOMM modems, they had problems setting them 
up for a leased line, everybody kept saying it was not possible, the manual 
does not mention it, but when Guido called a friend who works at DIGICOMM he 
got some fancy values for some S registers and now it works beautifully!! (So 
I think you can do that with Supra modems too, please just tell me the 
secret!)

P. S.     beta 18 upgrade works very well when connecting to these BBSs, I 
get 33.660 with USR Courier, I downloaded

    Did you see this? I can't believe someone is still argueing about 
14.4-28.8 kbaud connections!!
BUT! When I connect to my ISP the modem can not connect to the other one for 
the first 3 times, it connects only at the 4th try, at the point when you 
usually get a connection you keep hearing the modems doing whistles (this 
never happened with 1.440-12)

read I could upgrade to 33.660
