I just installed version 6 over version 5 with no problems.  I'd make
sure I had a current backup, just in case, of course.
As for improvements, you can order accounts by several different
categories rather than just by date.  There is some improvement in
budgeting and cash flow, but that's still rather primitive: you can now
see a bar graph comparing your projected and actual expenses.  The right
mouse button is supported for some operations.  Online banking is
supported if your banking institution has the capability.  There are
some new planning tools, including debt analyzing.  There are
undoubtedly others, but that's all I remember off the top of my head.
