Greetings, Stephane...
Stephane Bessette hastily said to Sheppard Gordon:
SG>> After all, if consumers _wanted_ OS/2 they'd buy it. The fact that
SG>> they're overwhelmingly satisfied with what they "ended up with" is not
SG>> good news for IBM, is it.
SB> They could be satisfied with what they get because they are
SB> repeatedly told that what they get is the best (or leading/cutting
SB> edge) available, and because they don't know of anything else: the
SB> commercials with the nuns mention IBM, not OS/2. And if you go to
SB> an IBM store, you'll see IBM hardware installed with MicroSoft
SB> software (that's what I've been told). So how are customers supposed
SB> to know that OS/2 exists?
That's true enough... I was in one on my lunch hour today, looking to find
out the current price of Warp 4.0 on the "Wet" coast. All the machines were
loaded with Windows 95 (proclaimed quite prominently).
I asked about Warp 4, and was told they had one copy, a full version, and
that was reserved. They were expecting more "in a couple of days".... On
the other hand, the salesman did say that they'd had quite a few and sold
them all last week...
The store even had an "OS/2 Software" section (hard to get at, but there)
with things like the Graham Utilities, Partition Magic, GalCiv,
PhotoGraphics... so maybe things are looking up..
